Here are three complete Bible scavenger hunts, ready to play tonight: a **verse hunt** that gets Bibles open and pages turning, an **around-the-house object hunt** for kids too young to look up Habakkuk, and a **church photo hunt** built for youth groups. Every clue is below as text you can read off a phone -- and all three hunts fit on one printable.

**Need it on paper?** [Download the free scavenger hunt PDF](https://d3g07v1w0lehiv.cloudfront.net/printables/bible-scavenger-hunt.pdf) -- all three hunts as ready-to-copy sheets, with the verse-hunt answer key on its own page so nobody peeks. No sign-up, free to photocopy for home, class, or church.

## Hunt 1: The Bible Verse Scavenger Hunt (Ages 7+)

This is a sword drill wearing a party hat. Each clue names a verse; the answer is *in* the verse, so finding it means actually reading Scripture. First player or team to answer all twelve wins.

1. What did God put in the sky as a promise? — **Genesis 9:13**
2. How many smooth stones did David pick up? — **1 Samuel 17:40**
3. What was Jonah inside for three days and nights? — **Jonah 1:17**
4. What did the dove bring back to Noah? — **Genesis 8:11**
5. Where was Jesus born? — **Luke 2:4-7**
6. What fell from heaven for Israel to eat each morning? — **Exodus 16:14-15**
7. What did Jesus use to feed five thousand people? — **John 6:9**
8. Who climbed a tree to see Jesus? — **Luke 19:2-4**
9. What shut the lions' mouths in the den? — **Daniel 6:22**
10. What did the shepherds find lying in a manger? — **Luke 2:16**
11. How many days did it rain on Noah's ark? — **Genesis 7:12**
12. What did Moses see burning that was not burned up? — **Exodus 3:2**

**How to run it:** one Bible per player or team, clues face down, flip and go. For kids still learning the books, tape a [books of the Bible chart](https://faithfulkids.app/blog/books-of-the-bible-printable) to the table -- half the skill being built here is just *finding* 1 Samuel. (The answers are in the PDF's answer key, on its own page.)

## Hunt 2: The Around-the-House Bible Hunt (Ages 3-7)

Little kids can't look up verses, but they can absolutely find "something that floats, like Noah's ark." Each object connects to a story, which makes the debrief the best part: when everything's gathered, pick one object and tell its story together.

- Something that **floats** — like Noah's ark
- Something that **gives light** — like the star over Bethlehem
- A **small smooth stone** — like David's
- Something **made of wood** — like the manger
- A piece of **bread or a cracker** — like the loaves Jesus shared
- Something with **all the rainbow's colors** — like God's promise
- A **toy animal** that was on the ark — two is better
- Something a **shepherd** could use — a stick, a blanket, a bell
- A **coin** — like the lost coin in Jesus' story
- Something that **holds water** — like the jars at the wedding in Cana
- A **seed**, or something a seed becomes — like the mustard seed
- **Your Bible** — bring it back and pick tonight's story

## Hunt 3: The Church Photo Scavenger Hunt (Youth Groups)

One phone per team, twenty minutes, and every photo must include the whole team. This is the loud one -- schedule it *before* the lesson, not after, because nobody lands a plane after Jericho jumping photos.

1. The whole team by the church sign (or front door)
2. Someone holding a Bible open to **Psalms** — the exact middle
3. A **cross** anywhere in the building — the less obvious, the better
4. The team acting out **David and Goliath**, frozen mid-scene
5. Something that holds water (bonus points for the baptistery)
6. A team member shaking hands with **someone over 60**
7. The verse **John 3:16** — printed, on a wall, or handwritten
8. The team recreating the **fiery furnace**: three standing, one "angel"
9. Something with a **dove, lamb, or fish** on it
10. A hymnal or songbook opened to a song about **grace**
11. The whole team pointing at a picture or window of **Jesus**
12. Everyone **jumping at once** out front — the walls of Jericho coming down

**Judging:** most photos wins; tiebreaker is the most creative Goliath face. Review the photos together on a screen afterwards -- that's ten minutes of guaranteed laughing, and it's also your attendance record.

## Making Your Own Clues

The verse-hunt formula is simple enough to extend for any lesson: pick the detail a kid would *notice* in the story (a number, an object, an animal), then clue the detail and give the reference. Writing clues from this week's passage turns the hunt into the review. If your group prefers sitting down to running around, our [45 Bible riddles](https://faithfulkids.app/blog/bible-riddles-for-kids) and [Bible charades prompts](https://faithfulkids.app/blog/bible-charades-for-kids) scratch the same itch at lower volume, and the [Bible trivia game](https://faithfulkids.app/bible-trivia) plays right in the browser.

The hunts work because kids hunt down what a story *mentions*. What makes the stories stick is meeting them properly -- which is what Faithful Kids is: the whole Bible as two-minute video episodes, each with its own quiz, no ads ever. The kid who found the smooth stone tonight can watch David use it tomorrow.

## Frequently Asked Questions

**How do you do a Bible scavenger hunt?**
Pick the format that fits your kids: a verse hunt (clues answered by looking up Scripture) for confident readers, an object hunt for younger children, or a photo hunt for teens. Set a time limit, play in teams of two or three, and end by connecting what was found back to the stories.

**What is a good Bible scavenger hunt for youth group?**
The photo hunt above is built for it: twelve photo challenges around the church building, twenty minutes, whole team in every shot. It burns energy, builds teams, and produces photos the group will want to see -- which conveniently gathers everyone back for the lesson.

**Can you do a Bible scavenger hunt indoors?**
Yes -- the verse hunt happens entirely at a table, and the object hunt works in any house or classroom. Only the photo hunt needs room to roam, and even that stays inside one building.
