TITLE: I Am the Way

SCRIPTURE: John 14:1-14
My disciples were afraid. I could see it on their faces — the confusion, the worry, the quiet panic in their eyes. We were in the upper room, and I had just told them something that shook them to the core: I was leaving.
Peter had already asked, "Where are you going?" Judas had already slipped out into the night. The room felt heavy. These men had left everything to follow me — their boats, their businesses, their families. And now I was telling them I wouldn't be with them much longer.
So I said the words their hearts needed to hear.
"Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God — believe also in me."
I wanted them to hold on. Not to panic. Not to fall apart. Because what was coming — the cross, the tomb, the three darkest days in history — it wasn't the end. It was the door.
I told them, "In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me — so that where I am, you may be also."
Let that sink in. I'm not just saving you from something. I'm preparing something FOR you. A place. A home. A seat at the table with your name on it.
Then Thomas — honest, blunt, say-what-everyone's-thinking Thomas — raised his hand and asked, "Lord, we don't even know where you're going. How can we know the way?"
And I gave him one of the most important answers I've ever spoken.
"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
I didn't say "I'll show you a way." I said I AM the way. I didn't say "I'll teach you truth." I said I AM the truth. I didn't say "I'll give you life." I said I AM the life.
The path to God isn't a set of rules. It's not a philosophy. It's not a religion. It's a person. And that person is me.
Every question you've ever had about God — who He is, what He's like, whether He loves you — the answer is standing right here. If you've seen me, you've seen the Father. I am the exact image of the invisible God.
So when your heart is troubled — and it will be — don't look for a new path. Come to me. I am the way home.
