What Is the Story of Abraham and Isaac for Kids?
Welcome back, friend. I need to tell you upfront — today's story is intense. It might be the most intense story in all of Genesis. But it teaches us something so deep about trust and faith that it's worth every moment. Let's go.
Years had passed since God first promised Abraham a son. Years of waiting. Years of wondering. But finally — FINALLY — the promise came true. Abraham and Sarah had a baby boy. They named him Isaac, which means "laughter," because Sarah literally laughed when God told her she'd have a baby at ninety years old. I mean, can you blame her?
Isaac was everything to them. Their miracle child. The one they'd waited decades for. The one through whom God said a great nation would come.
And then God said something that stops you in your tracks: "Abraham. Take your son — your only son Isaac, the one you love — and go to the region of Moriah. Offer him as a sacrifice."
This story comes from Genesis 22 and is part of the Old Testament.
