What Is the Story of Joseph from Prison to Palace for Kids?

Welcome back for the grand finale of our Genesis series! Last time, we left Joseph sitting in an Egyptian prison — betrayed by his brothers, falsely accused, and forgotten. But God was about to do something nobody saw coming.

One night, Pharaoh — the most powerful person in the world — had two dreams that shook him to his core. In the first dream, seven fat, healthy cows came out of the Nile River. Then seven skinny, ugly cows came out and swallowed the fat ones whole. In the second dream, seven full heads of grain were swallowed up by seven thin, dried-out heads of grain.

Pharaoh woke up in a panic. He called every wise man and magician in Egypt, but nobody could explain the dreams. Nobody.

That's when the cupbearer — a man Joseph had helped in prison two full years earlier — finally remembered him. "Oh! There's this guy in prison who interpreted my dream perfectly..."

This story comes from Genesis 41-50 and is part of the Old Testament.
