EXILE & FAITH — EPISODE 10: ISAIAH'S PROMISE
Based on Isaiah 7, 9, 11, 53 | Narrated by Jesus
Alright — this is the last episode of this series, and I saved the most personal one for last. Because this one? This one is about Me. And it was written hundreds of years before I was born.
The prophet Isaiah lived during some of the darkest days of Israel and Judah. Enemies closing in. Kings failing. And in the middle of that chaos, God gave Isaiah visions of the future — promises so specific that when they happened, there would be zero doubt God planned it all along.
Isaiah writes: "The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel" — which means "God with us."
A baby born to a virgin. God Himself coming to be WITH His people. That's not a vague prediction — that's a blueprint.
Then: "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Wonderful Counselor. MIGHTY GOD. Everlasting Father. Prince of PEACE. This isn't describing a regular king. This is God in human form. That's exactly who I am.
Isaiah goes further — a shoot from the stump of Jesse, King David's father. Even when David's royal line looks dead, a new branch will grow. A king who rules with justice. The wolf lying down with the lamb. Peace — real peace — covering the earth.
But here's where Isaiah's words get heavy. Chapter fifty-three. The suffering servant.
"He was despised and rejected by men. A man of sorrows, familiar with suffering. He was pierced for OUR transgressions. He was crushed for OUR iniquities. The punishment that brought US peace was on HIM. And by his wounds — we are healed."
Isaiah was writing about Me — hundreds of years before I was born. The rejection. The piercing. The crushing. He described exactly what happened on the cross. Not because he guessed — because God showed him.
"By his wounds we are healed" — that's the whole gospel. I took the pain so you wouldn't carry it alone. I was broken so you could be made whole.
Here's what I need you to understand. The ENTIRE Old Testament — creation, the flood, Abraham, Moses, David, Daniel, the exile — all of it points to one person. One rescue.
It's pointing to Me.
The story isn't over. It's just getting started. And the best part? You're in it.
