Paul wrote a lot of letters. But right in the middle of one — his letter to the church in Corinth — he wrote something so beautiful that people still read it at weddings two thousand years later. It's all about love. Real love. My kind of love.

And here's a secret: when Paul described love, he was describing me.

Let me show you.

"Love is patient." That means love doesn't rush. It waits. When your little brother asks the same question for the tenth time — patience. When your friend is slow to understand — patience. I've been patient with you a million times. Love waits without getting angry.

"Love is kind." Kindness isn't weakness — it's strength under control. It's choosing to be good to people even when they don't deserve it. Holding the door. Saying something encouraging. Sticking up for the kid who's alone at lunch. Kindness is love in action.

"It does not envy." Love doesn't look at what someone else has and burn inside. When your classmate gets the thing you wanted — love says, "I'm happy for you," and means it.

"It does not boast. It is not proud." Love doesn't need to be the center of attention. It doesn't need to prove it's the best. Love lifts others up instead of lifting itself up.

"It is not rude. It is not self-seeking." Love thinks about other people first. It doesn't cut in line. It doesn't say, "What's in it for me?" It asks, "How can I help?"

"It is not easily angered. It keeps no record of wrongs." This is a big one. Love doesn't keep a list of every time someone hurt you, waiting to use it against them. Love forgives. Love lets it go.

"Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth." Love is never happy when someone fails. It celebrates what is good and true and right.

And then Paul makes this massive statement: "You could speak every language on earth. You could have all knowledge. You could have faith powerful enough to move mountains. But without love — it means nothing."

That hits hard, doesn't it? All the talent in the world, all the success, all the knowledge — empty without love.

"Love never fails."

When Paul wrote this chapter, he was painting a picture of me. Patient, kind, not proud, not keeping score. And now I'm inviting you to love like this too. Not perfectly — but intentionally. Every day.
