Hey everyone! Okay, today's story is one of my absolute favorites because it's about a guy who was the LAST person you'd expect to become a hero. His name is Gideon, and when we first meet him, he's hiding. Like, literally hiding.

Here's what's going on. The Midianites have been terrorizing Israel for seven years. Every time the Israelites plant crops, the Midianites swarm in like locusts and destroy everything — food, livestock, all of it. The people are starving. They're living in caves and hiding in the mountains. It's bad.

And right in the middle of all this chaos, there's Gideon — threshing wheat in a winepress. Now, you're supposed to thresh wheat out in the open where the wind can blow away the husks. But Gideon is doing it in a winepress, which is basically a hole in the ground, because he's terrified the Midianites will find him.

That's when my angel shows up and says the most incredible thing: "The Lord is with you, mighty warrior."

I can just imagine Gideon looking over both shoulders like, "Who, me?! Mighty warrior? Sir, I'm hiding in a pit! My clan is the weakest in our whole tribe, and I'm the least important person in my family!"

Sound familiar? Ever felt like you were the last person qualified for something?

But here's the thing. I didn't call Gideon based on who he was in that moment. I called him based on who I knew he could become. I looked at a scared young man hiding in a hole and I saw a warrior.

Now, Gideon wasn't exactly quick to believe this. He asked for signs — multiple times. He put out a fleece, a piece of wool, on the ground overnight. "God, if You're really going to use me, make the fleece wet with dew but the ground around it dry." Next morning — soaking wet fleece, dry ground. Done.

But Gideon still wasn't sure. "Okay, God, don't be mad, but... can You do it the other way? Dry fleece, wet ground?" And you know what? I did it. Because I am patient with your doubts. I'm not threatened by your questions. I would rather you bring your uncertainty to Me than pretend you've got it all figured out.

Gideon finally believed. And that scared kid hiding in a winepress? He was about to lead the most jaw-dropping military victory in Israel's history.

Here's your takeaway. I see who you CAN become, not just who you are right now. You might feel small, unsure, unqualified. That's okay. Bring Me your doubts. Bring Me your fear. Just don't let them stop you from saying yes.
