What Is the Story of The Passover for Kids?
This is the episode I've been waiting to tell you about. Because this story? It's not just about Moses or Egypt or Pharaoh. This one is about ME.
After nine devastating plagues, Pharaoh still won't let the Israelites go. So God tells Moses: one final plague is coming. At midnight, the firstborn son in every Egyptian household will die -- from the firstborn of Pharaoh on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner in the dungeon. Even the firstborn of the animals.
But God gives His people a way to be saved. And listen carefully to every detail, because it all matters.
God tells each Israelite family: take a lamb. Not just any lamb -- it has to be perfect. No spots, no blemishes, no broken bones. A one-year-old male lamb, the best of the flock. They keep it for four days, inspect it, make sure it's absolutely flawless. Then on the fourteenth day of the month, they sacrifice it.
This story comes from Exodus 12 and is part of the Old Testament.
