Hey there! Welcome to an incredible adventure. I want to tell you a story about one of the bravest babies who ever lived. Yeah, you heard me right -- a brave BABY. His name? Moses. And his story starts in a really dark place.
See, my people -- the Israelites -- were living in Egypt. And at first, things were pretty good! But then a new Pharaoh came to power, and this guy? He was terrified of the Israelites. Why? Because there were SO many of them. He thought, "What if they rise up against me?" So you know what he did? He turned them into slaves. Forced them to make bricks, build cities, work until their backs nearly broke.
But here's the thing about my people -- the harder Pharaoh pushed them down, the more they multiplied. And that made Pharaoh even MORE scared. So he came up with a horrible, cruel command: "Every baby boy born to the Hebrews -- throw him into the Nile River."
Can you imagine? Every. Single. Baby boy.
Now, into this nightmare, a woman from the tribe of Levi has a baby. A beautiful little boy. And she looks at him and thinks, "No way. Not my son." So she hides him. For THREE MONTHS she keeps this baby hidden. Have you ever tried to keep a baby quiet? It's basically impossible! But she does it.
Finally, she can't hide him anymore. So she comes up with a plan that took incredible faith. She weaves a basket, waterproofs it with tar and pitch, places her baby boy inside, and sets it floating among the reeds of the Nile River. Then she stations his big sister Miriam nearby to watch.
And here's where it gets wild.
Guess who comes down to the river to bathe? Pharaoh's own daughter! She spots the basket, opens it, and the baby is crying. Her heart melts. She KNOWS this is a Hebrew child -- one her own father ordered to be killed -- but she says, "I'm keeping him."
And get this -- Miriam runs up and says, "Hey, want me to find a Hebrew woman to nurse the baby for you?" Pharaoh's daughter says yes. So who does Miriam bring? HIS OWN MOTHER. Moses' mom gets PAID to raise her own son! How's that for a plot twist?
Moses grows up in Pharaoh's palace -- eating the best food, getting the best education, living like royalty. But deep down, he knows he's Hebrew. One day, he sees an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave, and something snaps. He fights back, kills the Egyptian, and when Pharaoh finds out, Moses has to run for his life.
He ends up in a place called Midian, far from Egypt, working as a shepherd. From prince to shepherd. Seems like a downgrade, right?
But I'll let you in on a secret -- God wasn't done with Moses. Not even close.
Sometimes your life feels upside down. Sometimes it seems like everything's going wrong. But just like I had a plan for baby Moses floating in that basket, I have a plan for you. And trust me -- it's a good one.
