THE ROOM ON THE ROOF

Hey kids — today's story has everything. Generosity, a miracle baby, a heartbreaking tragedy, and a comeback so dramatic it'll give you chills. Let's go.
There was a wealthy woman living in a town called Shunem. Every time Elisha passed through, she invited him in for a meal. Nobody asked her. She just saw a man of God and thought, "I'm going to take care of him."
But she didn't stop at meals. She told her husband, "Let's build a small room on the ROOF for Elisha — a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Whenever he comes through town, he'll have a place to stay."
She built a whole room. On her roof. For someone else. Next-level generosity.
Elisha was grateful and asked his servant Gehazi, "What can we do for this woman?" Gehazi said, "She has no son, and her husband is old."
Elisha called her and said, "About this time next year, you will hold a son in your arms." She couldn't believe it. "Don't lie to me, man of God!" But it wasn't a lie. The next year — she had a baby boy. The dream she'd stopped dreaming had come true.
But years later — something terrible happened.
The boy was out in the fields when he grabbed his head and cried, "My head! My head!" They carried him to his mother, and by noon — he died. Right there in her lap.
The miracle child — gone.
But this woman did NOT fall apart. She laid her son on Elisha's bed — in that room on the roof — and RACED to find Elisha. She grabbed his feet and poured out her grief: "Did I ask you for a son? Didn't I say, 'Don't get my hopes up?'"
Elisha went to the room. He shut the door, prayed to the Lord, and stretched himself over the child. The boy's body grew warm. He stretched over him again. And then — the boy sneezed SEVEN times and opened his eyes!
ALIVE. Completely restored. Given back to his mother.
Here's what I want you to hold onto. Two things. First — the kindness you show others comes back in ways you can't imagine. That woman built a room; God gave her a son and then gave him BACK. Second — nothing is too dead for God to bring back to life. A dream, a hope, a situation that looks completely over — My Father specializes in resurrection. Trust Him.
